Future Interests

There are a few things in data bank notes that I think could be fun to learn more about:

  • Xin-41 Homeward Cloud Messaging and Researcher Eikura Shuu's Diary have mentions of a world that could be interesting to visit, even as an aside. This is particularly because there could be so much to develop around the Slinkans and their oppression of people on Xin-41.
  • It states that Diamond reclaimed the lost world of Jarilo-VI in the Ten Stonehearts faction entry, but that seems contradictory with the story that we're playing because Diamond was not part of that project at all (and Topaz didn't truly reclaim it, though she did succeed in building the connections for revitalisation).
  • Who is this Adrian Spencer Smith person? It'd be nice of the game to provide more access to them, as they are continually quoted in many different entries for aeons and factions (AEONS: Akivili, Nous, Qlipoth, Tayzzyronth, HooH; FACTIONS: The Nameless, Elixir Seekers, Antimatter Legion, Lord Ravagers, Genius Society, Garden of Recollection, Mirror Holders; CONCEPTS: Eden of Blessed Insight). He also appears as a Phantasmoon Games Winner.
  • It'd be fun to return to Jarilo-VI to either help rebuild or do archaeological digs at other places to add to the museum in Belobog. There are mentions of Nycatha in Jarilo: God of Spring and War and also Ice Storm Causes, so it could be interesting to go further out to explore… Perhaps with Lynx.
  • So if winning the Phantasmoon Games doesn't work, how is it that Himeko survived the Weathering Curse? … Or did she have an interaction, not with Aha, but Yaoshi? (Also, her father states that she has a tombstone, which is why he thought she was dead. So did Yaoshi revive her? Maybe via Evanescia, who seems to recognise her?)
  • We're getting more mentions of Oswaldo from the Marketing Development Department (Phantasmoon Games Winners Traces).
  • I know Pedro says he's not related to Zandar, but I have a glimmer of a feeling that he is. Either he doesn't know it (e.g., distant relative via another family member) or he does know it and is obfuscating it. (The “time will test her, and test all of you as well” feels very ominous… Like obviously the story'll work that way because otherwise it'll just be a flat note and disengaging, but having a character say it earlier feels ominous in the way it's foreshadowed.)
  • The poems look like a good place to play around: Preface, Rabbit I, Monkey, Frog, Fox.
  • Ryusuke is shaping up to be a very interesting person, and I have to wonder what it is that he did while Himeko was gone. The highlighted lines in the first work appreciation and the note about Lilaso in the second work appreciation are interesting.
  • Interesting bit that Todd Riordan (the Intelligentsia Guild researcher we help on the Luofu) describes Yaoshi as an aeon of whimsy in his travelogue. Considering that the Intelligentsia Guild and IPC are becoming more connected with the Herald of Death, it might also be worth revisiting his comments on how they may as well be labeled as spies when entering the Xianzhou.
  • This advertisement from the Xianzhou reminds me a lot of Fulwish's cult, even though this sounds more like a cult. It makes me wonder what the connections might be between being mara-struck and anything on Planarcadia (maybe including the Weathering Curse?).
  • The entry for the annotations to the Ode to Reignbow Path has so many parallels to things we're learning now in Planarcadia. Part I has talk of different kinds of trees that grant immortality; Part II mentions that the Xianzhou also saw the moon as a “Gloomy Hare” (much like the map refers to one side of Planarcadia); Parts III and IV outline what being mara-struck looks like, discusses how the hero Reignbow was put into cryo-sleep as punishment (and also just discusses the cryo-sleep pods that the Xianzhou residents used when they left their homeworld), and highlights that the Reignbow made a deal with the Flint Emperor (letting him possess their body) in order to shift the tides of battle; Part V mentions that both the Reignbow and the Flint Emperor are missing (but is regarded as a rumor). I don't think this entirely details Ashveil, but it shares some interesting parallels.
  • The evidence collection for the Disciples of Sanctus Medicus has some interesting bits. In the “Undelivered Letter,” there's a struck-through sentence that makes it feel like the Disciples were creating a process that might precede Fulwish's. In the “Disciple's Diary,” there's a bit that talks about how his body is getting stronger and stronger; it also has some attitude similarities with the repetition of one line at the end; this is different from Fulwish's Research Society members who “feel no pain” and are able to be defeated, but the repetitive behaviours and thoughts feel very on-brand. The section titled “Thousand-Handed Merciful Medicus' Salvation” includes discussion of Shuhu. Meanwhile, “Pharmacological Studies on the Draught of Draconic Surge” has a bit that discusses the planet of Yaguoret, which was controlled by the Intelligentsia Guild, and had a cancer cell that managed to live independently of the host due to a chance mutation.
